Dr. Stephen Herman
 

DR STEPHEN HERMAN, MD
Founder & Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Stephen Herman has served for over twenty-five years as a thoracic radiologist. Trained at the University of Toronto and Harvard, Dr. Herman is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine where he also served as head of Thoracic Imaging. He has over 40 articles in medical journals and has lectured at national and international radiology-related conferences on numerous occasions. Dr. Herman also founded and served as President of Interpra Medical Imaging Network, a radiology workflow software publisher. Founded in 1996, Interpra was divested to Merge Technologies of Milwaukee, WI (MRGE – NASDAQ). Dr. Herman then served as Chief Medical Officer of Merge and a member of Merge’s executive team until 2003.

 

 

JOHN ADZIOVSKY, MBA
President

John is an executive with over 17 years of experience in the Global Healthcare Informatics Industry. Previously, John worked with successful start-ups eFilm Medical (acquired by Merge Healthcare), Radimetrics (acquired by Bayer AG) and Montage Healthcare (acquired by Nuance Communications). His background includes degrees in medical science and computer system design as well as an executive MBA.

ZARINA PATEL, CPA
Financial Controller & Operations

Zarina Patel is responsible for the direction of all financial management at MedCurrent. She leads the treasury management, oversees operational and statutory reporting, and assists in the development of the strategic plan. Prior to joining MedCurrent, Zarina held the role of Accounting Manager for Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, where her team designed and set in place the accounting procedures for the flagship Toronto location. Her experience extends to charitable and corporate accounting management from McDonald’s Restaurants, as well, overseeing the financial reporting of every Ronald McDonald House across Canada in addition to 40 restaurants. As a Chartered Professional Accountant, Zarina holds a duel bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance and accounting, and economics from Western University.

 

 
Hasan Dharamshi

Vice President, Professional Services

Hasan brings deep experience in healthcare informatics, strategy and operations to the MedCurrent team. Previously, Hasan worked with industry-leading professional service firms Accenture and Healthtech Consultants. His background includes a Master of Health Informatics from the University of Toronto and multiple Epic certifications.

Dragomir Stanojevic has more than 15 years' experience in software design and development. He has been involved in the development of numerous enterprise business solutions for organizations in a range of industries, including Healthcare, Pharmaceutical, Banking, Government, Telecommunications and Publishing. With rich experience of taking on different roles in a team, Dragomir prides himself on strong leadership skills, and places high value on teamwork and a client-oriented attitude. He also received his Master's in Information Systems and Computer Software Engineering from the University of Belgrade.

 

 
Chris Gentry
 

CHRIS GENTRY
Director, Sales

Chris Gentry is a high-grossing sales leader with 14 years of radiology IT sales experience across the USA. In particular, he specializes in workflow management efficiencies, analytics, interoperability and decision support. Prior to joining MedCurrent, Chris was one of Bayer Healthcare's most accomplished sales specialists. The company selected him in 2011 to launch its informatics business of contrast and radiation dose analytics to support hospitals in improving patient adoption and focused quality initiatives. Chris was recognized as one of Bayer’s top performing sales specialists during this tenure, winning multiple corporate top honors including multiple Sales Rep of the Year awards. His strengths lie in channel management relationships, sales messaging and strategy, opportunity recognition, brand growth and market penetration. Originally a southern boy from Nashville, Tennessee, Chris played Division 1 basketball on a full scholarship in college and continues to maintain an athletic and healthy lifestyle. 

 

 
 

JASON BURKE
Director, Sales

As a national award-winning sales specialist in medical device and enterprise software for nearly two decades, Jason Burke comes to MedCurrent with a distinguished track record of success, leadership and a consistent Top 5% performance. Over the last decade at MedRad, a division of Bayer Healthcare, Jason won top honours nationally for growth in new and emerging products, sales leadership, and enterprise strategy. As a highly-motivated sales representative, Jason’s strengths lie in strategic sales messaging, relationship management of enterprise healthcare systems, and recruiting and improving channel partnerships. Throughout his sales career, Jason has been recognized with multiple President’s Club and corporate honors. Born and raised in Massachusetts, Jason continues to be an avid sports enthusiast and leads an active fitness lifestyle. He was co-captain of his college baseball team, and now resides in Los Angeles, California.

 

 
Dr. Suanne Wong

Director, Clinical Informatics

Dr. Suanne Wong brings her keen clinical skillset and perspective as a physician to the Professional Services Team at MedCurrent. After earning her MBBS degree at King’s College London, she completed 2 years of broad-based training in the UK, rotating through a number of specialties including Paediatrics, Intensive Care, Accident & Emergency, General Medicine, and General Surgery. Her international clinical experience also includes exposure to healthcare systems in Australia and Canada. Through the course of medical training, Dr. Wong’s involvement in research, audit projects, and presentations has further fostered a passion for promoting patient-centered care and quality improvement.

BARYS DZEVENSKI, MSc
Senior Software Engineer

Barys Dzevenski has over twelve years of IT experience developing web applications for e-commerce, real estate, fitness and wellness, and insurance. His applications have receive various accolades, including Most Innovative Application, and are used by thousands of people across Europe and North America. Barys believes that the motto of modern IT should be “Impossible is nothing”, and knowledge, determination, passion and positivity should be main guiding principles for developers. He holds a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radio Electronics.

 

 
Milica Antonijevic

Senior Quality Assurance

As a Senior QA Tester and Analyst, Milica Antonijevic has an excellent understanding of the software development life cycle. She brings over 9 years of experience in functional, manual and automated testing of web and desktop based applications, as well as mobile device testing across a variety of platforms. Milica is highly proficient in test strategy preparation, test plan development, test case creation, test execution and bug tracking. Before joining the MedCurrent team, she worked for one of the biggest IT companies in South Eastern Europe where she was responsible for testing different solutions for the banking sector, and worked on large scale projects where she gained valuable experience. Milica received her Master's in Information Systems and Technologies from the University of Belgrade.

RADHA TAILOR
Sales & Marketing Associate

Radha directs the marketing execution and sales support at MedCurrent, bringing a wealth of knowledge on B2B communications, automation and CRM administration in SMBs. She has a marketing-based STEM background - prior to joining MedCurrent, Radha aided in the successful redevelopment of marketing and sales support at a Toronto-based IT consultancy firm heavily focused upon cloud computing, networks and security. With her creative direction, she and her team won multiple contracts of Fortune 500 companies, national and provincial organizations industry-wide. Radha studied mathematics at Queen's University, completed her post-graduate diploma in broadcast journalism and was previously a breaking news reporter and producer in the Greater Toronto area.

Joe Manget
 

JOE MANGET, MSc
Chairman

Joe Manget is an Operating Partner at Alignvest and Chairman of the Edgewood Health Network Inc. (EHN), a Canadian based private pay mental health and addictions treatment platform launched by Alignvest in December 2013. Prior to joining Alignvest, Joe was a Senior Partner at The Boston Consulting Group where he led BCG Canada (2006 to 2009), then led BCG’s Global Operations practice (2010 to 2012), which he transformed into the firm’s largest and fastest growing global practice. Prior to BCG, he was a senior manager at IBM Canada (now Celestica).

Joe holds a Master's of Science from Stanford University, graduating summa cum laude. Joe is a member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO), is on the Finance Committee for Upper Canada College, and serves on the board of Bridgepoint Active Healthcare.

 

 
Paul Lasiuk
 

PAUL LASIUK, MBA

Paul is a seasoned executive with cross-industry marketing, finance and consulting experience. Paul is the CEO and Co-founder of Healthy Interactions, one of the most widely deployed diabetes patient engagement and education programs in the world.

Prior to the founding of Healthy Interactions over ten years ago, Paul was a consultant and advisor to global companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Lifescan, and Kleiner Perkins. Prior to this, Paul co-founded LifeServ (1997-2002), was a Senior Consultant to Bain & Company (1995-1997), and a International Financial Analyst and Regional Director of Business Development for Eli Lilly and Company (1991-1995).

Paul holds an MBA from the University of Michigan.

 

 
Sam Duboc
 

SAM DUBOC, MBA

As co-founder of EdgeStone Capital Partners, Samuel Duboc has successfully built one of Canada’s leading private equity firms. Prior to starting EdgeStone, he was a managing director at CIBC Capital Partners and co-founder and COO of the Loyalty Group Inc. (Air Miles Reward Program), Canada’s most successful loyalty database marketing program. In 2013, Mr. Duboc served as the Clifford Clark Visiting Economist and Special Advisor on Venture Capital for the Department of Finance Canada, leading a team in designing and implementing the Government of Canada’s Venture Capital Action Plan. In January 2014, Mr. Duboc was appointed as Chair of the Board of Directors of Business Development Bank of Canada.
 
Sam holds an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is chairman and co-founder of Pathways to Education Canada, co-chair and co-founder of the Leap, The Centre for Social Impact, a member of WPO and CEO, Crescent School Board of Governors, the founding board of The Next 36 and a former member of the board of directors of CAMH Foundation, Bishop Strachan School Foundation & Board of Trustees, The Next 36, MaRS Social Finance Task Force, Business Advisory Panel on Income Security Reform, Toronto City Summit Alliance Steering Committee and Luminato Foundation Board.

During his time at UHN Dr. Herman also founded and served as President of Interpra Medical Imaging Network, a radiology workflow software publisher. Founded in 1996, Interpra was sold in 1999 to Merge Technologies of Milwaukee, WI (MRGE – NASDAQ). Dr. Herman then served as Chief Medical Officer of Merge and a member of Merge’s executive team until 2003 as the company’s revenues grew from $6MM to over $30MM.

 

 
 

CATHERINE MCCALLUM

Catherine McCallum is currently Managing Director of The Dunes Development Group, a Turks and Caicos developer of luxury real estate. She spent the first part of her career as Administrative Director for the largest imaging department in Canada at Toronto’s University Health Network. During her tenure, she managed a budget of over $50M, managed 500 staff and oversaw the merger of four major institutions. In 1998, Ms. McCallum co-founded medical imaging software company, eFilm Medical Inc., which she sold to Merge Technologies in 2002. Since that time she has acquired and sold several companies including TPS Healthcare, a UK based medical logistics company to DCC Healthcare where she remained as Managing Director for four years after the sale.  Most recently, she co-founded and sold Radimetrics Inc., a developer of radiation dose management software, to Bayer Healthcare in 2012.  

Scottish Enterprise named Ms. McCallum a "Global Scot" as a result of the support she has provided to Scottish businesses and to promoting business success in Scotland for over ten years. Ms. McCallum holds a First Class Honours Degree in Radiation Science from the University of Lancaster in the United Kingdom and is a graduate of the Glasgow School of Radiography, also in the UK. 

 

 

BRET SHILLINGSTAD, MD, FACS

Bret Shillingstad was a general surgeon in the USA for eight and a half years post-residency, during which time he co-founded a multi-specialty group. After, he transitioned full-time into Clinical Informatics, and for the past twelve and a half years, Bret has been the Director of Clinical Informatics at Epic in Verona, WI. In this role, Bret worked with clinical optimization, physician engagement, pre-go-live audits and post-go-live visits. He specialized in clinical optimization, and wrote a booklet on workflow efficiency and adoption. Bret's implementation experience specializes in CPOE. As a local and international speaker surrounding clinical informatics, he has a deep understanding of healthcare, regulatory issues, population health, and future opportunities as it relates to clinical informatics and delivering 21st century healthcare.  

 

 

DAVID MOEN, MD

Dr. Moen has spent his career providing thought leadership to teams achieving nationally recognized and market-changing Triple Aim results for high-risk patients in hospital, clinic, and community settings. Triple Aim focuses on improving the experience of care, improving the health of populations, and reducing per capita costs of health care. Dr. Moen worked within the Fairview Health System in Minneapolis for 25 years as an emergency physician and physician executive. During his last five years at Fairview, he served as Medical Director of Innovation and President and CEO of the Fairview Health Network (FHN), a group practice of over 1,300 physicians. In both roles he engaged clinicians in creating better care models and worked to align payment incentives among key partners to achieve the Triple Aim. His team led development of the Patient-Centered Medical Home in over 50 primary care clinics, and designed and implemented population health infrastructure to support Fairview’s employed and partnering independent physicians in new risk-based contracts. In 2011, FHN achieved over $10 million savings and performance incentives in commercial insurance contracts and FHN was named a Pioneer ACO by Medicare. Dr. Moen earned his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin and completed his residency training in Family Medicine at the University of Minnesota.

BILL GULA, LLB

Bill Gula is a Managing Director at MPA. Widely regarded as one of Canada’s leading M&A advisors, Bill has acted as a trusted lead advisor to CEOs, boards of directors and board committees on over $100 billion of M&A transactions over the past 35 years. He has advised clients on some of the most complex and ground breaking transactions in the Canadian marketplace. Bill is a frequent lecturer at universities and industry conferences and has made many contributions to industry publications.

Prior to joining MPA in 2011, Bill gained over 30 years’ experience in senior legal and investment banking roles. Most recently he was a senior partner at Davies, Ward, Philips and Vineberg LLP specializing in mergers and acquisitions, securities and corporate governance. Prior to that he headed the Mergers and Acquisitions Group at Scotia Capital where he built and managed the successful division within the larger investment bank. Prior to joining Scotia Capital Bill spent many years as a partner at Davies, Ward, Philips and Vineberg LLP.

Bill holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Toronto.
